Weekly Family Meal Plan 2017 - Week 10
Hello friends! Another Monday means it's time for my weekly meal plan. This weekend, I pulled out all of the March issues of my Everyday Food magazine (remember that goodie from Martha Stewart??) looking for some inspiration. What I found, was a reminder to keep things simple. Every day dinner doesn't have to be a fancy, difficult affair. A lean protein, some vegetables and a whole grain makes for a delicious and nutritious plate.
I have had shrimp in my freezer for a bit too long, so I'm finally pulling it out for grown-up Taco Tuesday this week. I will have traditional Beef for my teenager, and my youngest prefers a non-meat version with cheese, sour cream, corn and avocado. While I do not cook separate meals, I do allow my kids to eat the parts of the big meal that they prefer. They are also free to substitute or add to their meal with something we already have on hand.
I don't know about you, but just about dinner time, I am pretty dang tired! The last thing I really feel like doing is cooking dinner . . .let alone two or three dinners. With my meal plan in place, I know I have my ingredients and I (hopefully) remembered to pull out anything that needed defrosting. Both of those things make the process a little less daunting.
So don't get hung up and make things more difficult than they need to be. Want to keep it even simpler? Assign each night a food. For instance, Monday is meatless night, Tuesday is beef, Wednesday is Fish, Thursday is Sandwich Night, etc. I have tried that method a few times, and it just doesn't work for me. But I love the concept and think it's a great way to simplify the process.
Here's what we have planned for this week:
Monday - Pork Chops, Green Beans and Rice Pilaf
Tuesday - Taco Tuesday with Beef or Shrimp Tacos, Guacamole and Corn
Wednesday - Quick Dinner - LAX Practice and Meetings
Thursday - Flank Steak, Baked Potatoes and Caesar Salad
Friday - Pizza Night
Saturday - YOYO (You're On Your Own)
Sunday -Family Dinner Out
