The Latest Video Game Craze - Yo-Kai Watch {giveaway}
“This post was sponsored by Nintendo as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.”
I don't know about your kids, but my kids love video games. We have been a Nintendo family for a long time. My husband and I had a Nintendo 64 back in the early 90's and indulged in some crazy, pre-kid Super Mario Brothers marathons. These days, we still enjoy the family-friendly feel of Nintendo and their gaming systems.
Video games get some bad press these days, but as the mom of two active boys, I think they can be a great way for my kids to unwind and enjoy some downtime. In fact, I'd rather they actively engage with a video game, than mindlessly watch a television show. But it's all a balancing act, and every kid and family is different. Differences are what's so great about Nintendo, because they have something for everyone, no matter what your interest is. Take the new Yo-Kai Watch game, for example.
"What is Yo-Kai Watch?" you may be asking. I did too. Yo-Kai Watch is a video game craze in Japan that recently made it's debut in the United States for the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS gaming systems. We have seen it at our local Target, Best Buy and GameStop, alongside the other new game releases. There is even a television show about it.
While he hadn't played the game before, my nine year old was familiar with the game, the story and the concept. It took him no time to get his game set up and start to play. Before long, he had found his first Yo-kai!
Every Yo-kai has a unique personality and abilities, so it takes a bit of strategy to get the right team together and gain the upper hand against troublesome Yo-kai. Because of course, there are epic battles. Players must find and befriend these mischievous Yo-kai that inhabit the world and turn them into a team that battles other Yo-kai.
It's similar in concept to the wildly-popular Pokemon. The player explores an open world, collecting little creatures (Yo-kai Ghosts) to build your army. These creatures are capable of evolving as they gain experience thorough your play of the game. The thing about Yo-kai, is that you can't see them. Have you ever forgotten your keys or found yourself running late? Maybe a Yo-kai is to blame.
Want to win a Yo-Kai Watch game for your own child? Here's your chance! HURRY, giveaway ends on April 4th!
