Skirt - Aventura | Turtleneck - Talbot's | Boots - Hunter Boots | Necklace - Tiffany
Last week I attended a local grand opening for a new World Market store. There was still plenty of snow on the ground with a threat of freezing while we were out. Those conditions always make shoes an issue for me, so I knew I needed to build my outfit around my trusty Hunter Wellies.
I love this simple khaki skirt I received last fall from Aventura. I had never thought of wearing it in the winter though. I paired it with black tights and a simple black cashmere turtleneck. For a pop of color, I carried my favorite red plaid Kate Spade bag and blanket scarf.
This was a simple, pulled-together casual outfit. You probably have similar pieces in your own closet - almost any color skirt will work, including denim. I didn't want to wear a coat, since I was going inside a store, but you could pull on a vest with this to kick up the look a bit as well.
You know my mantra is to keep it simple and build a wardrobe of great basic pieces that mix and match with other things you have. That's the real key to a long-term versatile wardrobe of cloethes you love.
Right now, I am in a slump. For the last few days, I have mostly worked around the house on both housekeeping items and my businesses. That means, I didn't really need to go anywhere or see anyone. That also means that I've resorted to days in a row of athleisure wear. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing yoga pants, or that adorable Lululemon active wear outfit. It's when we don't get out of our pajamas or want to wear them to the store, that we fall into a problem area. So you may have seen me in Ikea yesterday is
But in the back of my mind, I'm always planning my next great outfit. What are you putting together these days? I'd love it if you shared here in the comments. Still stumped? I have a Pinterest Board filled with outfit ideas for every season!
