Meal Planning 2016 - Week 2
Welcome back for the second week of meal planning for 2016. I hope your new year is off to a great start! Each week I share my intentions for feeding my family for the upcoming week. I take time each Sunday night to plan out a menu of mostly "real food" items, in an attempt for all of us to eat healthier. In the end, when we follow the plan, we do eat healthier and we save money besides. I hope you take away some ideas and inspiration for your own weekly meal plan.
That first week back into a routine was a doosey around here for sure. But now we're into it and things are setting down. So far I'm doing well in my eat more at home goal. Last week we only got food out twice.
This week is busy, so our schedule is a little off. I'm going to pick up a few easy-to-make items at Trader Joe's today to have on hand as a back up. I try not to use too many pre-prepared items in my meal plans, but some weeks, you need help to get it on the table on-time.
When choosing, I try for the "healthiest" packaged items that my family will eat. If it's healthy, but no one eats it, then I lose on nutrition AND money. It's a delicate balance between what we want and what our reality is. No hard feelings - do what you need to do for your family with no guilt.
Here's what we have planned this week:
Monday - Pasta with Meatballs, Salad and Garlic Bread
Tuesday - Herb-Roasted Drumsticks with Vegetables
Wednesday - Breakfast for Dinner - Dad has a meeting.
Thursday- Winter Concert Night, so dinner is quick! Chicken Nuggets and Salad with Fruit.
Friday - Pizza Night
Saturday - Boys Night Out - Mom's away
Sunday - Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes and Vegetable
What's on your meal plan this week?
catch you soon -

Hi Hillary - I'm visiting from Menu Plan Monday! I totally get what you mean about the balance. Would I love for 100% of the food I put on the table to be real, whole, and homemade? Of course. But as a working mom with a busy family, that's just not always our reality! Lucky you to have a Trader Joe's. The closest one to me is 2 hours away. :( We do have some other decent options locally though. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe tend to do breakfast for dinner when Dad's not around, too! It's a favorite around here with the kids.
