Easy Holiday Looks

It's time for another weekly fashion post. If you're new here, I hope you find some inspiration. Each week I share an outfit I'm wearing right now, along with some tips and tricks for adapting a similar look to your own style. Fashion and style don't have to be hard. . .all you need is an idea and a little inspiration.

This week's post will hopefully give you some ideas and inspiration for outfits that fit all of your holiday needs. There's no doubt this is a busy time of the year, between hunting for the perfect tree, Hanukkah dinners, potlucks, caroling, the office party . . .the list is endless.

One of my favorite outfits right now, is perfect for the holidays! It features my favorite red plaid and because I can't get enough red plaid right now, I even added my favorite Kate Spade bag too:

Casual Red Plaid Shirt Styled With Black Skirt, Tights and Boots
Shirt - Lands End (last year) | Skirt - Aventura | Tank - Aventura | Tights - Spanx Tight End Tights | Boots - Bandolino | Bag - Kate Spade | Belt - unknown (it's old!) | Watch - Kate Spade

This great skirt is from Aventura Clothing (where I'm an Ambassador). I love that grey band around the bottom because it adds a pop of interest, but doesn't take away from the shirt.  It's an easy outfit - a shirt and a skirt. The styling is up to you. I did a half-tuck on the shirt, and added a wide belt. To keep the look casual, I went with black tights and tall boots.

Casual Holiday Look, Featuring Red Plaid Shirt and Black Skirt

Have an office party or other Christmas party to attend? Last year I shared some ideas for styling a basic LBD (little black dress), and inspired you to go casual (when appropriate) in a plaid skirt and sweater combo. For dressy events, I really like mixing something dressy with something casual . . .think about a taffeta ball skirt with a t-shirt or white men's style shirt. Have a plain black pencil skirt? Pair it with a tank and a colorful cardigan. Add a skinny belt, clutch bag and some great jewelry and you're ready to go.

Dark denim with a sleek turtleneck and blazer make a great daytime outfit. Add some leopard ballet flats and a fun bag, and you are set for a day of shopping or lunch with the girls. Or go preppy for brunch, with a pair of colored denims and a classic crewneck sweater over a white shirt. How about a bright red cape and jeans to get the spirit flowing?

The options are endless . . .and adding some sparkle or holiday colors (tired of red and green? try gold, silver, aqua or pink) make your everyday pieces holiday-ready!

What will you wear this holiday season?
