The key to wearing denim on denim is contrast. What does that mean? It means pair your dark jeans with a lighter denim shirt (or reverse it). Whatever you do, your denims shouldn't match in shade, that's a definite fashion don't, and contrast is the key.
You may recall that I had picked up a great denim shirt from Ann Taylor in the spring. It's a very soft fabric (more like a chambray) and a lighter color. But once I stopped wearing white jeans, I felt limited as to what I would wear it with. Wearing it with jeans felt like too much blue denim . . .but I then I thought about contrast, and did a few Google and Pinterest searches. It looks great paired with a dark pair of skinnies. Just to be safe, I added my favorite Aventrua tank too.

Accessorize your denim on denim with either black or brown. Depending on your mood, brown can make your look more casual, while black can dress it up a bit. Animal print also looks great paired with denim. I added a bright red bag for a pop of color on my outfit.
What else can I wear my denim shirt with now that I've mostly put my white jeans away? I have my "famous" penny green jeans that will make a great outfit, styled with brown boots, or a pair of orchid jeans that would also look great with accents of black.
Are you a fan of denim on denim? What are your favorite pieces?
