This week's fashion post isn't about me . . .this week, I'm looking at back to school ideas for boys. Specifically teen boys. I remember when my kids were little and their seasonal wardrobe was completed with a trip to Carter's and Lands End. Although Lands End is still a big part of our shopping (I love their quality), we've added a few more stores, some of which I have never stepped foot into before.
You've seen those shops: dark and smelly with pulsating music playing. I'm much happier to see him strolling the Burberry section at Bloomies and because I am a fan of classics, I do my best to steer my kids towards the brighter stores, filled with on-trend versions of classic guy clothing: jeans, shorts, pants, t-shitrts, polos, hoodies and button-downs. For guys, that's about what it boils down to. If you have a real trend-setter on your hands, you may have a few henley shirts, sweaters and jackets in the mix. Right now, he's shopping American Eagle Outfitters, Sports Stores, Department Stores and Vans.
The first issue is finding stylish clothes that they will actually wear. The next step is finding things they like that actually fit. Both my boys are very thin and belts have always been a big part of their wardrobe. But until recently, it was more me than them. Mission belt sent my teenager of their belts to review.
If you're not familiar with Mission Belts, they were on Shark Tank, with their innovative, no-hole belt design.
Mission Belts adjust every 1/4 inch, unlike typical belts that adjust
every inch - this is great for my skinny guy. And they have a no-crack
guarantee besides! They let him pick out his own color choice, and he
chose the camouflage (which I think of a new neutral).
What I love most about this belt? He likes it so much, it's inspiring him to not always wear his sporty clothes, and go back to some of the other pieces in his drawers and closet. Hello belt loops! It's amazing to watch him transform from a little boy into a young man before my eyes. Here are some looks we've pulled together for the start of the new school year:
Another reason to love Mission Belts? A dollar from every belt goes to fight hunger and
poverty worldwide through micro-lending. Always great to support a company that gives back.
Have a teen? What are they wearing for back to school?
catch you soon -
My 7 year old would love this too!
