Wanting to wear something chic and fun is one thing. Having all the pieces, on-hand is another thing. Have you ever tried on 4 or 5 outfits and none of them were quite right?? That can really be a mood killer for me. One way I've started planning outfits in advance, is to use Polyvore. A few weeks ago, I put together this outfit:
When it came time to get dressed for Girls Night Out, I knew I had some similar pieces, so I tried building my outfit from there. I didn't want to wear faded jeans since we were going to a nice restaurant. I swapped them out for dark straight leg denim. This is where I break from the fashion norm, and caution you ladies over 30/35 about heels and skinny jeans . . .it can be a fun look, but it can also go drastically wrong and make you look more like a "lady of the night" than a lady out for the night.
Here's my Girls Night Out interpretation of my Polyvore outfit:
Jacket - Ann Taylor (scored on the clearance rack last year)
Top - Ann Taylor
Jeans - Coldwater Creek
Bag - Kate Spade (new)
Shoes - Life Stride from DSW
Necklace - Premier Designs Jewelry
Earrings - Kate Spade
Bracelets - Alex and Ani and Tiffany
Watch - Kate Spade
I kept my accessories in the black and white color scheme and added chunky silver jewelry to complete the look.
You can follow me on Polyvore so we can share even more ideas!
And if you're local, check out Cafe Laredo - the food was delicious, the atmosphere was sophisticated and fun, and the tequila was smooth!

I love your look for GNO, Hillary! You can never go wrong with the black and white color combo! I actually wore something similar to a fun night out with my girlfriends last week, too! I wore a white graphic tee under a black jacket with white denim and leopard wedges. I got so many compliments! Have a great week!
