Wearing Colored Jeans

Welcome back for another weekly post of real fashion tips and outfit ideas for real women, like you and me. This week, I'm bringing back my green jeans. There is not a thing wrong with blue jeans. I love them and they are a wardrobe staple, both in dark wash and faded wash. Everyone's wardrobe should also have a great fitting pair of black jeans and a nice pair of white jeans too. But we all know a continuous rotation of blue, black, white can tiresome.

The temperatures are still chilly here, even though the calendar is almost ready to flip to May. I haven't been out in short sleeves much without a cardigan or jacket, and I'm still layering to keep warm. Also, no open-toe shoes yet, which is a challenge.

I threw together some basics here in a new and fun way. The first piece is a simple pair of ankle jeans. This pair happens to be a bright kelly green, but you can achieve a similar look with your basic blue jeans, or better yet, how about a great pair of red or coral jeans?  I layered on my favorite Aventura Bienne Tank to ground the outfit with a basic white base. Since I am not much of a tank-top wearer, I topped it off with a casual denim shirt, mostly unbuttoned, loose and open.

Leopard Sneakers - Target last year

I added a lined khaki jacket to leave the house, as it was still pretty chilly when I set out. Shoes were my outfit stumbling block here, but I grabbed this pair of leopard print sneakers that I love so much. They pair great with my brown bag too.

The jacket in this post is a perfect example of why buying classic pieces gives you much more return on your money than trendy pieces. Splurge on classics and Save on trends! What are you wearing this week?
