This week let's talk about the "spring uniform:" t-shirts and jeans. It's so easy to throw on a t-shirt and jeans and go. But there are easy ways to take those simple pieces and make them look a little more pulled together and stylish. All it takes is a little rummaging through your closet.
First, picking the right style and fit jeans. For your basic needs, (errands, lunch, picking up the kids, etc) a pair of skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans in a lighter wash work great. If you want to be a little more dressed up, go for skinny jeans in a darker rinse.
Now a t-shirt. A basic white t-shirt that fits you well is always a great choice. Pair it with a spring jacket or cardigan and you're ready to go. But don't forget about all those 3/4 length sleeve t-shirts, colored t's, and print t shirts you've been keeping. I like this navy and grey striped 3/4 length sleeve t-shirt I picked up at Ann Taylor last year. I love to wear it with my white shorts and jeans as the weather gets warmer, but the other day I paired it with some faded skinny jeans.
T-Shirt - Ann Taylor (last year)
Tank - Bienne Tank from Aventura ( I'm an ambassador-FYI)
Jeans - Ann Taylor Modern Skinny (new this season)
Jacket - The Redford Jacket from Aventura
Necklace - Tiffany
Bracelets - Tiffany and Alex and Ani
It's a little gauzy for my comfort, so I slipped my new Aventura (I'm an Ambassador fyi) tank underneath for a base layer. Since I didn't have anywhere important to go, I slipped on a pair of sporty mules, my Aventrua jacket and a scarf to ward off the chill in the air.
You could easily have added more fancy shoes and a pendant necklace to take this simple outfit up a notch. So don't fall victim to sloppy jeans and t-shirts. Take a few minutes to accessorize them and bring your whole outfit to a new level.
How do you dress up your jeans and t-shirts?
