How to Wear Radiant Orchid
In case you haven't heard, Radiant Orchid is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2014. If you're not sure what "orchid" is, it's a pinky-purple color, you may remember from your Crayola Box of 64. From what I can see, it comes in a variety of shades from closer to purple to closer to pink, so choose the shade that best compliments your hair and complexion.
Truth be told, even though my "season" was analyzed as a Summer, this is not a color I would choose. But if you look at the Spring Trends hitting magazines and the web, there is plenty of orchid to be found. And plenty of ways to wear it, from nail polish to ball gowns.
So how can you incorporate the Color of the Year into your current everyday wardrobe? The easiest way is to add it as an accessory or a layer piece.
A great orchid bag can brighten up any outfit.
Since it looks like flats will be big this spring, why not get a pair of fun orchid shoes? That pair of driving mocs would look amazing with skinny or ankle jeans and a white shirt.
My personal favorite way to add a big color to my wardrobe is through a scarf, maybe like one of these. That print one would look gorgeous with a LBD.
As warm weather moves in, why not give your nails a pop of orchid with this pretty color. (I think I will try this for my first spring pedi) If you have the right complexion, a shimmery orchid lip could look lovely (and right on trend) too.
You can always add the color to your wardrobe in a big way, through a jacket, cardigan or even a dress, but if you don't think it's "you" or you want to try it out for fun - think accessories, and this a great color to bring you out of the winter doldrums and into Spring.
How will you wear Radiant Orchid this year?
catch you soon -
