These days, you can buy a pair of jeans just about anywhere. In fact, some may argue that there are too many choices, making it difficult to find that perfect pair. Which then begs the question, what makes the perfect pair of jeans?
My favorite answers is almost always, "it depends," because it does. The perfect pair depends on where and how you plan to wear them. For the sake of this post, let's explore a good old pair of everyday jeans. The pair you can wear to the market, and out to lunch with your girlfriends. Jeans were invented by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis in 1873, but became popular in the 50s, so they've gone through many incarnations.
In my eternal search for the "perfect" pair of jeans, I'm looking for three things:
- A great fit - That means the right length, (difficult when you are 5'3"), no gaps in the waist when I move, and comfortable.
- Stylish - No "mom jeans" or jeans meant for someone in their teens and 20s. As we age, regardless of whether we "can" wear something - sometimes we shouldn't.
- Comfort - Yes, comfort. . .I spent my high school years wearing jeans so tight I had to zip them with a pair of pliers. Now I want to be comfortable and still look great.
At the recent Fashion Forward Conference in NYC, I had the opportunity to find such a pair of jeans, thanks to event sponsor, Coldwater Creek. They had a great selection of up-to-the-minute styles in a range of sizes, and the conference attendees all got the chance to try them on.
I admit to liking how the Tuxedo Slim-Leg jeans looked, however I'm more of a traditionalist and knew my wardrobe needed another pair of straight leg everyday jeans. I was happy to find that I needed a smaller size than I usually buy, thanks to the guidance and help of the stylist Coldwater Creek had available to us.
The best part? This pair of Classic Slimming Straight-Leg jeans fit all three of my criteria above. Look for these jeans to be featured in a What I Wore post in the near future!
What's your current favorite pair of jeans?

Disclosure - Attendees of the Fashion Forward Conference (including myself) received a complimentary pair of Coldwater Creek Jeans. As always, all opinions are my very own. I was not compensated for my time nor to write this post.
