Meal Plan Monday - 2013 Week 23
I mentioned on Facebook last week, that my meal plans are a bit fluid. I set them up here by day, but they are subject to some changes, alterations and switching. My goal is to have the food we need to make the things on the plan, and waste as little as possible.
I'm not much of a stockpiler anymore, since we eat predominantly Real Food and have a typical refrigerator/freezer. That does mean a trip (sometimes 2-3) a week to a store of some sort. Currently, I am buying most of our day-to-day meal foods at Trader Joe's. I pick up snacks and pantry items that I can't find at Trader Joe's at Target. Occasionally there's a trip to Giant, the Farmer's Market or Whole Foods as well.
I keep running lists in the Notes section of my phone, this way my list is always with me. I can also access my blog (where my meal plan is) if I need to check on ingredients.
Here's what is on tap this week:
Monday - Christie Citrus Chicken, Quinoa & veggie
Tuesday - Baseball Night - Playoff's Start so it's Grab-n-Go - Nuggets
Wednesday - Baked Salmon, Salad, Potato Salad
Thursday - Mom is out - Guy's choice
Friday - Pizza Night
Saturday & Sunday - TBD
What are some tips and tricks you are using to make your meal planning easier?

Some tips...
ReplyDelete-Keeping a running list of what I need from the store
-Setting aside time to sit down with the weekly grocery specials, my cookbooks/Pinterest, and my coupons and figuring out what I'm cooking that week and what I need from the store.
-Not taking menu requests. Probably makes me a terrible person but if I took menu requests I'd be so over budget every week! My rule is "I cook, I plan", end of story. :)
Sounds like a good week. I'll be over on Wednesday. ;)
