Fashion Friday: Where Do You Get Fashion Inspiration?

Quick. . .I have to go to a work party. . .what do I wear?

Have you asked this question? With Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, it's easy to get quick fashion advice.  But when you are shopping your closet. . .what inspires you?

For me, it's always been catalogs.  For instance. . .earlier this week, I attended the PSMM Holiday Party at Dave and Busters.  I knew I wanted a casual but festive outfit.  So I broke out the latest Garnet Hill and J.Crew catalogs, and started flipping pages. . .

I found this:

And both of those finds, led me to realize I had THIS in my closet already:

So I pulled my hair up in a half-bun,

added some sparkle

and I was all set.

Catalogs once again to the rescue in inspiring an outfit.  In this case, a dressy lace skirt with a casual shirt and crewneck sweater.  Tights and boots to finish it off.  All pieces already in my closet, thrown together in a new and funky way.
