Fashion Friday | Are Pearls Still In Style?

When I think of pearls. . .I think of Jackie O.  A style icon.

There was some recent debate among my friends about whether they are still in style or not.

In my mind, pearls are a classic and I think they look just as great styled with a t-shirt as they do a classic cashmere twinset.  Pearls can be dressy or casual.  Pearls come in a variety of price points, colors, sizes and styles, making them a win for everyone.

What say you? Are you a fan of pearls or do you leave them for your mom?

 catch you soon -

  1. I think there are more current, fashionable ways to wear pearls (such as layering them) so they don't look old fashioned.

    1. I completely agree. I have a strand of silver beads that I mix them with for a modern look.

  3. Thank you! So glad that you posted on this because I didn't have time. Pearls are, have always been, and always will be in style. They're classic style. It's all about knowing how to wear them.

I found a picture of Audrey Hepburn at a classic, country diner today in Maine. I pointed her out to my daughter and simply said "that's a picture of class. You'll understand it when you're older, but study it."

    1. I LOVE that - I tend to be very "classic" in my style. . .I like to think it still makes me fashionable. . .you take classic pieces and put a modern or trendy "twist" on them.

  4. So I admit that I am an "old fashioned" or classic kind of girl--i love pearls (although having said that, I have not worn mine in forever!). I do have a few more modern renditions that I wear frequently-like a solo choc. tahitian pear on gold necklace--but I definitely need to take out my classic strands and wear them more often.

  5. I love pearls too. I'm old enough that receiving pearls as a gift from my parents meant that I was an adult in their eyes. Now I need to start wearing them again.

  6. My father gave me a double strand of gorgeous pearls for my 50th birthday last July. Unfortunately, I received them after his passing on August 31st. I was not aware of the meaning behind them. I will wear them in his honor, knowing that I am now 'fully grown' in his eyes. They will be worn near and dear to my heart.
