or so a bunch of recent songs would tell you.
clearly there is a self-esteem issue going on if songwriter after songwriter is writing lyrics that talk about accepting who you are and being proud of it. . .
There's Lady Gaga's Born This Way - "I'm beautiful in my way, 'Cause God makes no mistakes I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way."
and Selena Gomez's Who Says - "Who says you’re not perfect Who says you’re not worth it
Who says you’re the only one that’s hurting Trust me."
and Pink's Perfect - "Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel Like you're less than, less then perfect Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing You're perfect to me!"
there are more . . .Katy Perry's Firework, The Glee Casts' Loser, Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are . . .
i try to point some of these out to my kids at times - to listen to some of the words - it's not always about sex, drugs and rock & roll (that's mom's music)
what do you think? evolution in music? with the economy and disasters do we need cheering up?
catch you soon -
