happy friday!
if you are like me - your holiday celebrating is just getting into crazy-hectic mode. this is when I shop my closet and move a few flashier items to the front, so I can grab them and go.
due to the economy, John's company has ceased their fancy grown-up only holiday party (quite frankly the highlight of our social calendar for the last several years) . . . so my outfit needs are pretty simple:
Nighttime Holiday School Concert
Classroom Parties
Holiday Cocktail Party with friends
Holiday Dinner and Drinks with friends
Christmas Eve Day family Activities
Christmas Day dinner
I have a red cashmere turtleneck and a green cashmere v-neck sweater that serve for the classroom parties and any daytime event when i want to feel festive. Paired with dark denims (or a denim skirt and tights) and boots - perfectly put together.
The Holiday Concert was this past week, and I changed my yoga pants and t-shirt for a raspberry v-neck sweater, dark denim and boots. I added a fancy necklace and big silver hoops.
Christmas Eve Day is pretty much a no-brainer. . .we hang out as a family, make cookies and our gingerbread house and eat a finger-food dinner. VERY low-key. Also Christmas Day - we are a casual family, so (again) dark denim to save the day or leggings and a tunic. It's important to be comfortable when you are crawling around helping kids open gifts and put toys together.
Then there are those 2 get-togethers. . .that's where the fashion thought gets dicey. . .something "special"" and "festive" without being too much. . .maybe just a quick trip to the store. . .
catch you soon -
Well of course a quick trip to the store! (though the raspberry sweater sounds lovely, too.)
