A Celebration of Life and Family

On Saturday - we went to NJ to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday.  she told us she didn't want a party or anything "big" - just us and a cake.

 This is a picture of my cousin Kait, my Aunt Danielle, my Mom and me.

Since it was her 70th birthday. . .it called for more than a sheet cake from Giant. . .so I hit The Night Kitchen Bakery. We are in no short supply of bakeries in our neighborhood - but i had just had the flourless chocolate cake at a friend's celebration and is was delicious!

Here's what i learned at the bakery. . .after 42 years, i have NO IDEA what my mom's favorite kind of cake is. . .but you can't go wrong with chocolate - right? And a little pink and brown is all girly - right?

So Chocolate-Raspberry it was. . .and it was FANTASTIC!

So there were no balloons, or noise-makers or a big fancy party - it was just us - hanging out and being together and catching up and reliving old memories.  I could spend every Saturday that way for the rest of my life - Happy Birthday Mommy - I love you!
