commencement. . .

. . .today I had the pleasure of participating in the 46th Commencement at Cabrini College.

as president of the alumni association, i get the esteemed honor of presenting the Mother Ursula Alumni Award to the graduate selected by his/her classmates.

as an added bonus this year, the commencement speaker was Phil Martelli - yes, the St. Joe's University basketball coach. many of you know that i am NOT athletic by any means. . .but i must say, this man is one heck of a speaker.

i cannot remember my commencement speaker back in 1990. . .i like to think Coach Martelli left a more permanent mark on the audience today.

it makes me happy and little nostalgic to see all those shiny YOUNG faces - embarking on the rest of their life - what promise and joy their lives hold for them at this moment. i hope they all know to take it by the reins, hold tight and enjoy the ride.
