smell the cookies. . .
. . .ryan and i baked some holiday cookies today.
clearly, he has an outfit for every occasion. he was a big helper, and is quite good at operating the hand mixer.
i used to love baking cookies with my mom and my grandmom. . .the whole kitchen covered with ingredients and cookies and pans and bowls. . .it seemed to me that we made 100s of cookies. . .and at least 100 different kinds. . .butter cookies, russian teas, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter. . .
in fact, my grandparents' house was pure christmas magic. they had 2 trees, and decorations everywhere. everything lit up and most things made music. one of their trees was one of those silver tinsel trees, with the rotating light wheel. . .on this magical tree hung all the ceramic ornaments (corkies) that my grandmom had painted. even though she let me help. . .hers always looked the best. i am lucky enough to have a handful that i hang on my own tree every year.
catch you soon -
